The importance of . . . proofing

As many folk do nowadays, your A-Z Swagman has been binging an episodic visual story (formerly known as a television show.) My wife brought Schitt's Creek to my attention and as it stars two wonderful comedic actors, Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara, it has kept me rooted to the couch for (too) many nights.

The other day, as we were watching the middle of season three, your Swagman was extra tickled to see a little gag around a promotional product. Watch the clip below and I'll comment on the other side. (nothing risque or bad in this clip, but if you get hooked, please read some info on IMDB before starting your binge!)

So, in spite of David's snarky comment about the effectiveness of coasters or "custom beer cozies" (Note, he's awfully close to a trademark here I have to wonder if they got licensing), he does make what would be an extremely valuable contribution when he notes there's no address or hashtag on the coaster spec sample. Unfortunately, his contribution is not valuable due to the timing. Patriarch John is already on the way to pick up the completed coasters.

This brings me to the point of this blog entry: proofing is vitally important!!

Your A-Z Swagman and other promotional product distributors are going to help you with your products as much as possible. However, we are not as well versed as you are when it comes to important info like phone numbers, web addresses, hashtags, email addresses, etc. It is vitally important that you the client proofread carefully before the product goes to production. Had John reviewed the coasters with his son David beforehand, they wouldn't be sitting on a batch of semi-worthless marketing tools. (although the scene would have been much less funny.)

Another point is the importance of using a trusted partner in your promotional product needs. Distributors (like your A-Z Swagman) are here to advise you on ways to make your promotional product campaign most effective. They don't go into the backstory about the coasters in the episode (it's a side narrative), but I suspect John was working with a very ineffective distributor or an online only promo seller.

Your A-Z Swagman and the whole promo division are here to help you get the right message on the right coaster. From temporary hashtags on paperboard to embossed logos on fine leather. Let's chat about the best fit for your needs!

Oh, and if you get hooked on the show, or are already a fan, I'll be happy to discuss any I've seen, but please no spoilers!!
