OK, first a BIG tangent.
Your A-Z Swagman fell in love with Premier League football (known in America as soccer) a few years ago. At that time, I did not have a favorite team and wanted to choose one of the twenty to cheer. Having a fair amount of Scottish heritage, I was drawn to root for Celtic in that first year – not realizing they’d be relegated at the end of the year. The next year I chose Liverpool based on the enthusiasm of a young Raheem Sterling – only to find he left to join Manchester City at the end of the year. Quandary: would I follow the player, continue to root for the team, or choose an entirely new team. Going with option #3, I chose a team that showed enough quality to have been in the top half of the table for a few years; had some stellar performers, but none that were the epitome of the team; and finally, were chosen because of a beloved literary reference (something that couldn’t be taken away!) Because of that, your A-Z Swagman became a fan of Tottenham Hotspurs!
This Saturday (June 1) Tottenham take on Liverpool in the UEFA Champions league final!! Go Tottenham!!!

Fast forward to the summer of 2017: Tottenham and Manchester City are involved in a summer tournament that takes them all over the world, squaring off against many teams that they normally wouldn’t face. And joy of joys, they come to Nashville! OK, Tottenham couldn’t best Manchester City that day, but it was exciting to see my team live!
At the end of the game, as your A-Z Swagman was in line to buy some swag (Ha!), what do my eyes light upon, but some Tervis tumblers emblazoned with the Manchester City logo, selling for $30 a pop! Not being a City fan (that’s shorthand for Manchester City!), I elected to limit my purchases to a Tottenham scarf, but I did take the photo above.
Now it’s fairly obvious that these are being sold to raise funds for the team – after all, Agüero, Sterling and De Bryune don’t come inexpensively! What’s neat is that this product is available to folk at all levels – schools, colleges, churches, recreational leagues, etc. You can purchase these USA made tumblers with your graphics for a little more than half of the price City charged. Sell them for $20 to $35 a pop to raise your funds – and hey, get a local restaurant to offer free or discounted drinks in these tumblers and watch your sales skyrocket!!!
