Milestones

This morning on the drive into work, your A-Z Swagman heard two brief stories about milestones that are either happening today or upcoming – more on those later. Many of my devoted, long-time blog readers will know that I often reference very esoteric or niche events that companies might wish to use in their branding efforts. A quick shout out to National Day Calendar for publishing their informative, and sometimes wacky calendars. The 2020 version is already on display in the A-Z Swagman’s office!

Milestone events, either public or solely-related to your business can form a co-op brand association in your target audience’s perception. For instance, one milestone from this morning tied in with today’s date in history and the last time humans walked on the moon – touchdown occurred December 11th, 1972. An organization involved in space travel might choose this tie in to encourage exploration, while reminding us of accomplishments mankind has achieved. Astronaut shaped stress toys or the original astronaut space pen are great options!

The other milestone heard by your A-Z Swagman is coming next year: Beethoven’s 250th birthday! I swear, he doesn’t look a day over 150! Orchestras, concert halls, music schools, private instructors, instrument suppliers – to name just a few – can tie their marketing into this prolific composer’s birth. Hand out ear buds or musical stress toys at a recruiting event; incentivize ticket sales with wireless speakers, throw guitar picks to your adoring fans; sell keychain/bottle openers to your adoring fans!; provide maracas to youth music classrooms; or spread your message large over event badges or instrument-shaped hand fans (different sort of fan).

A good advertising campaign will work across all advertising platforms – and a great advertising campaign will include promotional products in the mix! A-Z Office Resource Promotional Products division stands ready to help you with your promo needs. Let’s discuss upcoming milestone tie-ins and how to maximize your advertising dollar.
